3B provides juvenile detention services to three counties including: Bonneville, Bingham, and Butte Counties in Southeast Idaho. 3B also contracts with outside counties to provide secure housing for juveniles ordered to be in detention.
What We Offer
3B has a clinical staff that provides assessments for substance abuse and mental health. Clinicians complete assessments and screenings. 3B uses the Massachusetts Youth Screening Instrument-Second Version (MAYSI-2). The clinician provides information to juvenile probation officers, and works with parent and legal guardians to identify services in the community.
3B collaborates with Juvenile Probation Officers, Judges, and community partners to help juvenile offenders develop competencies, protect victims of juvenile crime, and the public at large. The Center complies with the National School Lunch Program.

Visiting occurs Wednesday 7-8 p.m. and Sunday 3-4 p.m. Parents, Grandparents and legal guardians are allowed to visit unless restricted by the court. Siblings overe 18 are also allowed. Juveniles may have visitation with Legal Attorneys’ and Clergy. All other visitors must be approved by the juveniles’ Probation Officer prior to being allowed visitation. All residents have the right to refuse visitation. Visitors are allowed 1 hour, and up to two visitors in the visitation room at one time.
Authorized visitors must present valid photo identification and must be 18 years of age or older. Visits take place in two visitation rooms with glass between the juvenile and visitor. Authorized visitors are not permitted to give the residents any items. Purses, backpacks, satchels, keys, cell phones and such should be left in their vehicle.
Visitors are not allowed to bring any type of contraband into the facility. Examples include pocket knives, tobacco, lighters or matches. 3B is a smoke free and drug free facility. Authorized visitors are subject to search. Authorized visitors must be properly attired. Any person in indecent or inappropriate clothing will be asked to leave. Authorized visitors that appear to the staff to be intoxicated or otherwise not in control of his or her behavior, will not be allowed to visit.

Detention Residents are allowed two outgoing telephone calls per week. All calls are made collect, collect calls can be made to cell phones (see instructions in the left column on this page). Calls are limited to 10 minutes. 3B staff may end a call if there is suspicion of inappropriate verbal conduct by a juvenile or the other party. There may be occasions where your telephone call will be on speaker phone. In this case, the party on the other end will be notified. Residents that abuse telephone privileges may result in phone use loss or restriction with juvenile probation approval.
Residents have the right to contact their attorney, juvenile probation officer, or contracting agency personnel assigned to their case management, during the scheduled time for telephone calls and their normal working hours. Juveniles are expected to make the appropriate arrangements with the staff. Parents/Guardians are unable to call the residents directly. They may contact facility administration for questions and emergencies. Mail to other institutions must be cleared through the contacting agency and a member of management. Phone calls and mail to individuals other than parents or legal guardians is subject to approval. A record of telephone calls will be kept indicating the person called or calling.

Residents are permitted to receive daily mail and send two letters each week. 3B will provide postage, envelopes and paper. All incoming mail is opened in the presence of the resident in order to remove any money or other items not permitted. Any unapproved items will be logged and stored with their personal belongings. Any contraband (illegal or prohibited items) will be confiscated. No writing or pictures are allowed on the outside of the envelope except the address of the person receiving your letter, along with the full return address.
